Retirement Dwelling
To create the perfect "Endless Spring" loop using only the 10 cities previously discussed, we need to leverage the fact that Bali (Southern Hemisphere) has the opposite rainy season to Thailand/Vietnam (Northern Hemisphere).
This specific 3-city rotation allows you to avoid the Chiang Mai smoke, the Da Nang typhoons, and the Bali rain, while staying compliant with visa rules without needing to do "border runs" (flying out and back the same day). You will just move naturally from one city to the next.
Here is your 12-month schedule:
City 1: Chiang Mai, Thailand (The Mountain Winter)¶
- Time: November 1st – January 31st (3 Months)
- The Weather: This is the "Cool Season."
- Highs: 80°F (27°C) / Lows: 60°F (15°C).
- Humidity is low, skies are blue. You will sleep with the windows open.
- Why leave Jan 31? You escape exactly before the "Burning Season" (smoke) begins in February.
- Visa Strategy (Zero Runs):
- Enter with Visa Exemption (Free, 60 days).
- Visit the immigration office once in late December to extend for 30 days (~$55).
- Total Stay: 90 Days. Legal and easy.
- Lifter Tip: Train at GoGym or O2 Gym. Both are open-air but cool during these months.
City 2: Da Nang, Vietnam (The Beach Spring)¶
- Time: February 1st – April 30th (3 Months)
- The Weather: This is the "Dry Spring."
- Feb is mild/cool (sweater weather at night).
- March/April are sunny and warm beach days, but not yet the scorching heat of summer.
- Why leave Apr 30? You leave before it gets too hot (May/June) and long before the typhoon season (Sept).
- Visa Strategy (Zero Runs):
- Apply online for the 90-Day E-Visa (Multiple entry, ~$50).
- Total Stay: 90 Days. No office visits needed.
- Lifter Tip: Train at Pig Gym (Hardcore) or hire a PT at a 5-star hotel gym (since you'll likely live in Altara/TMS).
City 3: Bali (Sanur), Indonesia (The Island Summer)¶
- Time: May 1st – October 31st (6 Months)
- The Weather: This is the "Dry Season" (Winter in the Southern Hemisphere).
- While the rest of Asia (Thailand/Vietnam) is sweltering hot and rainy, Bali is breezy and dry.
- Temps: 80°F (27°C) with a cool ocean breeze.
- Why leave Oct 31? You leave just before the humid rainy season starts in November.
- Visa Strategy (Zero Runs):
- Do not use the standard 30-day Visa on Arrival.
- Hire an agent online to get the B211A Visitor Visa (Visit Visa).
- How it works: You get 60 days initially. You can extend it twice (60 days + 60 days) at the local immigration office (or pay an agent to grab your passport and do it for you).
- Total Stay: 180 Days.
- Lifter Tip: Sanur has The Nest (beachfront gym) or Empire Fit.
